The story follows the adventures of the hobbit Bilbo Baggins, who goes in search of treasure with 13 dwarves.

The scene along the Aratiatia Rapids is filmed part of a breakaway where Bilbo Baggins save the elves dwarves, hidden in barrels, drive the downstream.

Quick approximately 10 km north of Taupo are operated by the mighty river.
