The shooting of the latest film by Peter Jackson led, The Hobbit, near Taupo Aratiatia fast for a scene with a spill gates of the dam.

The publicist Melissa Booth said the crew 20 to 25 barrels was reduced in a time of rapid scene yesterday.

“We shot the scene, when there was an explanation of the loot was 10, 12, 2 and 4.”

She said no actor or stunt crew venture, were forced into barrels in the extreme conditions.

“I think we had some problems with safety and health, if that were the case.”

The scene was the only part of the Hobbit be filmed in the region.

Ms Booth said that fasting was the perfect backdrop for the scene because the landfill has a dry throat in an otherwise fast-flowing waterfall.

The team has been working with a local company to secure the liberation of the river and recover the barrels.

Tolkien The Hobbit takes place 60 years before the beginning of the story told in The Lord of the Rings.

The story follows the adventures of the hobbit Bilbo Baggins, who goes in search of treasure with 13 dwarves.

The scene along the Aratiatia Rapids is filmed part of a breakaway where Bilbo Baggins save the elves dwarves, hidden in barrels, drive the downstream.

Quick approximately 10 km north of Taupo are operated by the mighty river.
